Company -Formations ( no link here)

In Cyprus, at present ,it is difficult to acquire an 'off the shelf' limited liability company or partnership. Each company  has to be incorporated and a company name has to be submitted. Names allowable are required in general to be specific with the directors names and/or the trading /service activities proposed.

Disbursements vary but on average for a issued capital ( does not have to be paid up) of Cy£5000.00 the total disbursements will be approximately £125.00 This does not include translation fees ( official through the P.I.O.) of the memorandums and articles. The cost of  translation is approximately Cy£12.00 per page if translated by the official body -The Press & Information Office ( P.I.O.) Average time for a company formation is 5 weeks.

There have been dramatic changes for non E.U. nationals.

E.U. nationals, have as a matter of right ,the privilege of obtaining a work permit as an employee or self employed person. This permit will always be granted for a period of 5 years. The application has to be made within 3 months of entry into the country. Interestingly since there is no date stamp on a E.U. nationals passport at the point of entry it is anyone's guess as to how the authorities propose to enforce this regulation!
